What is InteractiVR?

InteractiVR is an AI-powered interview training platform available in VR and on Windows Desktop. It helps both job candidates practice their interview skills AND hiring managers learn to conduct better interviews.

How is InteractiVR different from other interview trainers?

Most interview trainers only help candidates. InteractiVR is unique because it offers:

  • Dual-role training — Practice as a candidate OR as a hiring manager

  • STAR Method scoring — Get detailed feedback on your behavioral responses

  • Resume integration — Paste your resume and get questions tailored to YOUR experience

  • Hiring manager metrics — Talk-to-listen ratio, bias awareness, probing quality

  • VR + Desktop options — Use with a Meta Quest headset or Windows PC

Do I need a VR headset to use InteractiVR?

No. InteractiVR works on:

  • VR: Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro

  • Desktop: Windows PC (no headset required)

Both versions offer the same AI-powered interview experience. VR provides more immersion, while Desktop is more accessible.

Is InteractiVR available on Mac?

Not yet. Desktop mode currently supports Windows only. Mac support is on our roadmap. Mac users can use VR mode with a Meta Quest headset.

Does InteractiVR work offline?

No. InteractiVR requires an internet connection because the AI interviewer runs in the cloud. You'll need at least 10 Mbps for a good experience.


Candidate Mode Questions

How do I get the best practice experience?

For the most realistic practice:

  1. Paste your actual resume — The AI will ask about YOUR experience

  2. Paste the real job description — Questions will match what the employer wants

  3. Speak naturally — Don't read from a script

  4. Use the STAR method — Structure answers with Situation, Task, Action, Result

What is the STAR method?

STAR is a framework for answering behavioral interview questions:

  • S - Situation: Set the context

  • T - Task: Explain your responsibility

  • A - Action: Describe what YOU specifically did

  • R - Result: Share the outcome with measurable impact

What if I don't have a resume?

No problem! Click "Generate Resume with AI" on the setup screen. Answer a few questions about your background, and InteractiVR will create a professional resume for your practice session.

How long should my answers be?

Aim for 90 seconds to 2 minutes per answer. Shorter answers may lack detail. Longer answers risk losing the interviewer's attention.

Can I practice for specific industries?

Yes. When you paste a job description, the AI tailors questions to that industry and role. Whether you're interviewing for tech, healthcare, finance, government, or any other field, the AI adapts.


Hiring Manager Mode Questions

Why should hiring managers practice interviewing?

Untrained interviewers often:

  • Talk too much and learn too little

  • Ask biased or illegal questions unknowingly

  • Fail to probe vague answers

  • Hire people similar to themselves

InteractiVR helps hiring managers conduct fair, effective, legally compliant interviews.

What is the Talk-to-Listen Ratio?

This metric shows how much you talked versus how much the candidate talked.

Great interviewers talk 20-40% of the time. The candidate should do most of the talking.

What does Bias Awareness measure?

InteractiVR flags questions that could reveal protected class information or indicate unconscious bias. Questions about age, family status, religion, national origin, disabilities, or other protected categories will be flagged.

0 Concerns means you avoided problematic questions. If you receive flags, review the specific questions and learn alternatives.

Can I practice with different types of candidates?

Yes. You can:

  • Paste a real resume to practice with a specific candidate profile

  • Click "AI Generate" to get a realistic candidate created for you

  • Start without context for a generic candidate

Technical Questions

The AI isn't responding to me. What should I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Check your internet connection — The AI requires cloud connectivity

  2. Check your microphone — Make sure it's working and permissions are granted

  3. Speak clearly — Wait for the AI to process before speaking again

  4. Restart the app — Close and reopen InteractiVR

  5. Check for updates — Make sure you have the latest version

My microphone isn't working. How do I fix it?

On Desktop:

  1. Go to Windows Settings → System → Sound → Input

  2. Select the correct microphone

  3. Make sure InteractiVR has microphone permission

  4. Test by speaking and watching the volume indicator

In VR:

  1. Go to Quest Settings → Device → Microphone

  2. Ensure microphone is enabled

  3. Try speaking in another app to verify it works

The app is running slowly. What can I do?

  • Check internet speed — You need 10+ Mbps for smooth performance

  • Close other apps — Free up system resources

  • Move closer to Wi-Fi router — Stronger signal helps

  • Use 5GHz Wi-Fi — Faster than 2.4GHz

  • Restart your device — Clears temporary issues

Can I use InteractiVR on my company network?

Yes, but some corporate networks block certain connections. If you have issues, ask your IT team to:

  • Allow outbound HTTPS (port 443)

  • Permit WebSocket connections

  • Whitelist our service domains

What data does InteractiVR collect?

InteractiVR collects:

Yes. Resume text you paste is:

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest

  • Used only to personalize your session
